# A man died after a brain injury at the Warped Tour in Long Beach and his brother wants answers

## What is not known

How he was hurt.

That is the central fact of this story and nobody has established it. Yahoo News reports that it remains unclear how Granado was injured. We have seen no statement from the Long Beach Police Department, and no ruling from a medical examiner on cause or manner of death.

We are not going to speculate about a crowd, a fall, or anything else. Large festivals produce all of those and none of them has been established here, and a family is reading coverage of a death that happened six days ago.

## What his brother says

Alejandro Granado's public account is about what happened after the injury rather than during it.

He says his brother's emergency contact was not notified when Granado arrived at the festival's medical tent, or when he was taken to hospital. He also says he contacted the festival directly and heard nothing back.

"I sent an email the night I was called to the emergency room for my brother," he said. "The festival has yet to respond in 4 days."

Those are one family member's statements, reported by one outlet. They have not been confirmed by the festival or by anyone else, and the festival has not given its version.

## The festival has not commented

Warped Tour organizers had not publicly commented as of the Yahoo News report.

That silence is the thing most likely to change in the next few days, and it is worth watching. A festival's account of its own medical response, including whether an emergency contact was reached and when, is a matter it can settle quickly if it chooses to.

## Context, held at arm's length

The Warped Tour ran annually until 2019 and returned in recent years for a small number of dates, of which Long Beach is one.

Crowd safety at large music events has been under sustained scrutiny since the Astroworld crush in Houston in 2021 killed ten people. We mention that only because it is the reason such incidents now get examined at all, and not because anyone has connected the two. There is no evidence in the reporting that this was a crowd incident.

## The state of the record

One man is dead. His family has spoken publicly and is asking the festival to explain its handling of the night. The festival has not answered. No public agency has said anything at all.
