The attacker left the station on a bicycle before officers arrived. Police set up a perimeter around the surrounding blocks and found him barricaded inside a motel nearby, [according to CBS Los Angeles](https://www.cbsnews.com/losangeles/news/man-stabbed-to-death-on-metrolink-platform-in-san-fernando/), which reported that the LAPD's SWAT team made the arrest after a standoff lasting about an hour. NBC Los Angeles reported the suspect was in custody roughly five hours after the stabbing was first called in. ## What is not yet known Neither the victim nor the man arrested has been publicly identified. Police have not released the victim's age or said whether the two men knew each other, and no motive has been offered. "The information on what led up to the deadly incident was not immediately available," NBC Los Angeles reported. A street vendor told the station he saw a group of men and women near the station before officers arrived. ## The station The Sylmar/San Fernando station is on Metrolink's Antelope Valley Line, which runs between Los Angeles Union Station and Lancaster.
