# 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' is tracking for the year's biggest opening

The next 'Spider-Man' film, 'Brand New Day,' is tracking to open north of $180 million in North America, which would make it the biggest opening weekend of the year so far, a potential shot in the arm for theaters as the summer moviegoing season peaks.

Hollywood's summer is about to get a jolt from its most reliable web-slinger. Pre-release tracking for "Spider-Man: Brand New Day," the latest entry in the Marvel and Sony franchise, points to an enormous debut.

## The projection

The character has been one of the most dependable draws in modern moviegoing: the previous film in the series, "No Way Home," opened to one of the largest debuts on record.
