Accessibility

Updated June 20, 2026

We want Los Angeles Herald to be usable by as many people as possible, regardless of device or disability. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1, Level AA).

What we've done

  • A clear, consistent structure and headings, with a logical reading order.
  • The service can be used with a keyboard, and focus is visible.
  • We've paid attention to color contrast between text and background, and a dark mode is available.
  • We aim to provide text alternatives for images.
  • Pages scale to different screen sizes and hold up when text is enlarged.
  • Motion is reduced for users who have chosen reduced motion in their browser.

Known limitations

We are continually improving the service, and not all content is yet fully accessible in every respect. Some licensed images may lack an adequate text alternative, and individual views may have shortcomings. We fix issues we find as part of our normal development.

Send us accessibility feedback

If you run into an accessibility problem on the service, let us know — your feedback helps us improve. You can reach us through our contact form or by email at contact@herald.la. We aim to respond within a reasonable time.
