DEA Moves to Ban Concentrated 7-OH, Kratom's Opioid-Like Cousin, While Leaving the Leaf Alone

The Drug Enforcement Administration moved on July 1 to temporarily place 7-hydroxymitragynine and three related synthetic compounds into Schedule I — a crackdown on concentrated kratom derivatives sold in smoke shops and gas stations, while leaving the natural kratom leaf untouched.
