Israel agrees to withdraw from two areas of Lebanon under US-brokered deal

  • Israel and Lebanon signed a US-brokered framework at the State Department on Thursday under which Israeli forces will pull back from two small areas of southern Lebanon and hand them to the Lebanese army — a modest but symbolic first step that both sides, and a hostile Hezbollah, are watching closely.
