A 1960s Santa Monica Montessori closes, and a $65,000 AI school takes its place
- Santa Monica Montessori, open since 1960, shut on July 18 with about a week's notice to families.
- Into the space comes Alpha School, a Texas-based private school where students do two hours of AI-driven software a day, teachers are called 'guides,' and K-8 tuition runs $65,000.
- It is one of eight the company is opening in California this fall.
