A common brand of children's fruit pouches is being pulled from shelves over a packaging defect, ABC7 reports. This is a service item: if you have these in the pantry, here is what you need to know.

What is being recalled

The product is Pumpkin Tree Peter Rabbit Organics Banana & Strawberry fruit puree pouches, made by PT Organics Limited. The company is recalling them voluntarily after confirming, in its words, "the presence of a strand of a soft, food-grade plastic attached to the inside of a small number of pouches."

Two things are worth noting up front. The recall is voluntary, meaning the company initiated it rather than being ordered to, and the plastic is described as food-grade, which lowers but does not eliminate the concern. No injuries have been reported.

How to check yours

This is the part that matters if you have the pouches. The affected products carry:

  • Barcode 8 15367 01078 0
  • Lane number 4, stamped in black ink on the back
  • Best-before dates of January 19-20, 2027; March 17-18, 2027; or May 14-15, 2027

They were sold at Kroger, Meijer and Target stores nationwide, which includes Southern California, between March 6 and July 13, 2026.

One clarification the company stresses, to prevent needless worry: the similarly named Peter Rabbit Organics Strawberry-Banana pouch, barcode 8 15367 010100, is not part of this recall. The recalled item is the Banana & Strawberry version with the barcode above.

What to do

If you have the recalled pouches, do not feed them to your child. You can either throw them away or return them to the store where you bought them for a refund.
