Pedro Pascal, Keke Palmer and the Fanning sisters lead the 2027 Walk of Fame class

The Hollywood Walk of Fame has announced who is getting a star next year, and, as usual, the list is a snapshot of American entertainment across a few generations, ABC7 reports. The 2027 class was unveiled Thursday by actor Ming-Na Wen and musician Sheila E., alongside Hollywood Chamber of Commerce president Ron Frierson.

Some of the names

The honorees span the Walk's categories. In television, they include Pedro Pascal, Keke Palmer, Lisa Kudrow, Adam Scott, Raven-Symoné, David Alan Grier, Jeff Probst and producer Bill Lawrence. In motion pictures, Idris Elba, Kate Hudson, Sam Rockwell, Sam Elliott, Delroy Lindo, Cheech and Chong, Netflix's Ted Sarandos, and Dakota and Elle Fanning.

Music is a particularly deep list this year: Karol G, David Guetta, Sia, Lil Wayne, Grandmaster Flash, the Ramones, the Smashing Pumpkins, Linkin Park, composer Marc Shaiman and the late Waylon Jennings. The live theater and performance category includes Jo Koy, Nicole Scherzinger and ballet dancer Roberto Bolle; NASCAR's Jimmie Johnson gets a sports entertainment star, and radio host Charlamagne tha God is honored in radio.

The two that stand out

Two selections carry a little extra meaning. Dakota and Elle Fanning will receive the Walk's first double-star ceremony for a pair of sisters, a nice touch for two actors whose careers grew up in public and in parallel. And Waylon Jennings, the outlaw-country giant who died in 2002, is among the posthumous honorees, a reminder that the Walk is as much about cementing legacy as celebrating current fame.

How to read the list

A Walk of Fame class is not an award for the year's best work; it is a mix of active stars, veteran figures and legacy names, chosen by a committee from nominations that anyone can submit. That is why a single class can hold a streaming executive, a punk band from the 1970s, a stand-up comedian and a ballet dancer at once. The breadth is the point. Frierson framed it that way: the class, he said, "reflect the breadth, diversity and imagination of the entertainment community."

For Los Angeles, the Walk of Fame is both a genuine civic institution and one of the most-visited tourist attractions in the city, a stretch of sidewalk that turns Hollywood Boulevard into a permanent, if uneven, museum of the industry that built the place.
