Major General Feroz Khan, the suspended deputy head of South Africa's police Crime Intelligence division, was shot and critically wounded in an apparent assassination attempt in Johannesburg on Sunday night — two days before he was due to testify before a commission investigating criminal infiltration of the country's police.
